It is crucial to take care of your headlights. This is not only an appearance problem but a safety problem. Most dealerships will tell you that they can’t be saved and you need to replace them. I can tell you that a majority of the time they’re wrong. Don’t waste hundreds of dollars replacing them when I can clean them up and apply the right protectant to keep them looking new for years to come.

Paint Correction

  • Buffing is an art that takes a lot of practice, trying to find a good balance of how much clear coat is worth cutting and what you want to leave preserved to protect the paint is a delicate process.

  • Heavy Paint Correction

There are multiple levels to paint correction, different problems requires different paint correction. Everything from Wet Sanding to Glazes and Finishing Polishes.

  • 1966 Ford Mustang

This was a very light paint correct with very minor marring and swirls.

Paint Correction Info

There are many preconceived notions about how paint correction works and how any scratch can be taken out with just some compound and elbow grease. This is not the case. For every scratch that needs to be taken so does the clear coat around it. This is a delicate process of finding a ground of how much clear coat you’re willing to give up. Remember, clear coat is the main level of protection for your vehicles paint, taking this takes your level of protection and can ultimately leave your paint defenseless and susceptible to fading, cracking, peeling, etc.

Clear coat can be corrected though, cutting a little here and there while finishing with a polish, sealant or ceramic will overall make your vehicle look new and shiny but also protected against the elements.

Below are some pictures and information on the different levels of buffing, polishing and more.

Paint Correction Stages

  • 1 Stage Before

This is the basic stage of “Paint Correction” this is your light pass with your low level compound/polish hybrid, swirl removal or even just a polish. This does not get your thicker, deeper scratches out this is for the light swirling, light scratches. The picture above is what you would call “Swirls” and can find its way on your car from anything like drive thru car washes with the big brush wheels, to using a towel that’s abrasive on the paint when drying, your common California duster to many more little unintentional touches on the vehicles paint.

  • 1 Stage After

This is was a light buffing pad with a polish very little clear coat was needed to make this look back to brand new paint. Remember not all paint corrections are the same and different scratches, different paints, different problems.

Make it stand out.

  • 2 Stage Before

As you can see this Porsche Cayenne has been beaten and not properly cared for. This will take a bit more work with every second covered.

  • 2 Stage After

After a few cuts with some compound, a few passes with some polish I was able to get 90% of the scratches and swirls out without compromising too much clear coat.
